Payment Fee Calculator
Estimate percentage-plus-fixed transaction fees, net proceeds, or the amount to charge to receive a target payout.
Payment processors often combine a percentage fee with a fixed fee per transaction. Enter the rate that applies to your account to estimate the fee, the amount you keep, or the gross amount required to receive a specific net payout. Use your provider’s actual pricing because cross-border charges, currency conversion, subscriptions, chargebacks, taxes on fees, or custom pricing can change the real cost.
See what a transaction fee actually costs
Payment processors often charge a percentage of the transaction plus a fixed fee. This calculator estimates the fee, the amount you keep, or the amount you would need to charge to receive a specific net payout.
How percentage-plus-fixed pricing works
If a provider charges 2.9% + $0.30 on a $100 payment, the percentage portion is $2.90 and the fixed portion is $0.30. The estimated total fee is $3.20 and the net amount is $96.80.
Why small transactions feel more expensive
A fixed fee has a bigger impact on small payments. A $0.30 fee is only 0.3% of a $100 payment but 3% of a $10 payment before the percentage fee is even included.
Working backwards from a target payout
If you need to receive a specific amount, adding the fee percentage to your target is not exact because the processor charges the percentage on the larger amount. The tool solves this by dividing the target plus fixed fee by one minus the percentage rate.
Fees this calculator may not include
Real accounts can include cross-border fees, currency conversion, subscription charges, chargebacks, instant-payout fees, taxes on fees, or pricing tiers. Enter the rate from your own provider and treat the output as an estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this for Stripe, PayPal, Square, or marketplaces?
Yes, if you enter the percentage and fixed fee that actually apply to your account and transaction type.
Should I pass processing fees to customers?
That is a business and legal question that can depend on card-network rules and local law. The calculator only shows the arithmetic.
